National poet, Karnataka Rathna, Jnanapeeth Award winner for ‘Ramayana Darshanam’ Dr KV Puttappa’s 1926 children play ‘Nanna Gopala’ after staging 361 times in various places is transformed on silver screen.

Writer Lakshman who made ‘Masanadha Makkalu’ a children film on the fate of children in the grave yard has collected Rs.19 lakhs from his friends to produce and direct the film. He is making this a period cinema. The locations that suit the pre-independence Lakshman has selected for shooting of the film in 20 days. He is helped in accruing money by Marimallaih one of the board directors of Bharath Cooperative bank. This film went on the floor on Monday morning.

It is for the first time Member of Parliament DB Chandre Gowda of BJP is appearing on silver screen besides Congress I MLC Motamma, Justice AJ Sadashiva, and Prof. Doddarange Gowda.

The film revolves around three persons and 22 children. Shruthi the talented actress is playing the widow mother, Master Anilkumar and veteran actor Rajesh is playing the Guru role.

Actor Rajesh who plays the Guru in this film has accepted this film only because of the affection he has on Rashtrakavi Kuvempu. “I pray such a stalwart in my heart”. Rajesh remembered the days of meeting Dr Kuvempu when he was in Jayalakshmipuram residence in Mysore. “This is my fortune”, he says. MS Maruthi is scoring five songs.
